If you podcast daily, you do need to have something fresh every day to let your listeners know about, and that can be hard. If you don’t have that then the quality of the show drops, and people lose interest, and listeners are a fickle bunch.
There are pros and cons to a daily show, but I think the cons outweigh the pros in my opinion.

  1. I know I could probably just look this up. But, hey it’ll give you something to talk about on the daily program.

What exactly is porridge? I’m guessing that there’s probably something exactly like it here in the States. But if I walked into a shop or restaurant and said, “Give me some porridge,” I’d be met with a blank stare.

Many thanks for playing my song and your comments on the 23rd November!

I’m sure someone’s said this already but porridge is simply the English (or rather Scottish) word for oatmeal. Further inspection of Wikipedia reveals that the word porridge can be applied to other cooked grains besides oats and in Northern Europe and Russia they would often use barley, so porridge as it is commonly known today is kind of an archaic term and a less specific word than oatmeal. I wouldn’t think any restaurants would serve porridge but that’s mainly due to the fact that it’s a simple breakfast item. The Michelin star chef Heston Blumenthal famously serves snail porridge mainly for the sake of being outlandish.

In terms of TV you could say the US equivalent of Porridge is Prison Break.
